Doula Services Defined

Home Interview:  This is a time to get information and find out if the doula is a match for you.  It is very important that you feel comfortable.  Please Ask Many Questions.  References provided upon request.

Prenatal Home Visit One:  Take the opportunity to discuss your ideas, fears and hopes about pregnancy, labor and birth.  We will go over your pain preference scale, birth plan worksheet and epidural agreement. 

Prenatal Home Visit Two:  We will go over early labor symptoms and when to call your doula.  We will talk about what it’s like to labor at home and or hospital and go over specific labor positions and comfort measures for labor.  We also talk about signals and Labor Language.

In Labor:  When you call in labor and are ready for my support, I will meet you at your home, hospital or birth center.  The choice is yours.  I will stay with you throughout your labor, birth and two hours after birth, providing continuous support.  I will come by the next day as needed for breastfeeding.

24 hour phone support:  I am available to answer questions or calm nerves.  Sometimes you just need to bounce off ideas or concerns and I will listen.  I would like to hear from you after each prenatal visit.

Written Birth Story:  I will keep a notebook of times, events, changes and special moments during the labor and delivery process.  I use those notes to provide a birth story to you to help you recall all the moments of your birth.

In home Postpartum Visit: I will bring the Birth story.  We will discuss your feelings about your labor and birth.  I will answer any questions that you may have.

Breastfeeding Support:  I will provide instruction and support immediately following the birth.  I am available to come by your home for additional support.  24 hour phone support never stops.  I can also provide contact numbers for certified Lactation Consultants and LaLeche groups.

Still Photos:  I am a professional photographer with a great camera.  I can provide photos from the birth, however my first priority is labor support for mom and dad.  Photography is secondary.  If Birth photography is very important to you, please consider hiring a birth photographer here
